Creating Pathways to Employment Through Community Partnerships

Two of our participants, Sean and Honey, recently started workplace placements at a local cafe, and they’ve hit the ground running.

The owners made them feel welcome from day one, walking them through safety procedures and showing them the ropes.

The cafe owners loved having them and want to keep working with TASSK participants, which has opened some exciting doors.

Sean settled straight into customer service and coffee making, working more independently as his shift went on, while Honey took to the kitchen with real enthusiasm, picking up food prep skills and showing great attention to detail.

We’re now exploring traineeships for Sean and Honey, talking with Apprenticeships WA about the cafe becoming a host training organisation, and the cafe’s coffee supplier has even offered after-hours barista training for our participants. Sean is on track for part-time employment, and we’re working with external providers to build a long-term pathway for Honey too.
