For those who have not meet our Employment Mentor, Erin is the force behind the Employability Skills workshops and whose energy has seen amazing results for our SLES participants.

Erin has been working hard to secure a Carpentry Apprenticeship for Thomas with Alkimos Seawater Alliance. Thomas has made a fantastic start successfully completing his first month on the job.

Over the past few months Thomas worked closely with Erin to complete online applications, contact businesses, create a profile with Apprenticeships Australia, work with a job provider and even doorknock with resume in hand to get to this point. It was a busy and determined journey that paid off. Thomas knew what he wanted from the onset and with his drive and right support he made it happen.

Well done Thomas!

Erin is working hard to see each and everyone and looking forward to connecting with each of you soon. She is working hard to identify everyone’s employment goals to find a suitable career pathway. Ryan has had a long-term goal of working at the Ritz Carlton so Erin organised to meet Ryan and his support worker in the Perth CBD to make a visit. After speaking with staff, the group was generously offered a short tour, including meeting members of the concierge teamβ€”further strengthening Ryan’s motivation to pursue this career path.

This visit has created real momentum with Erin liaising directly with the HR team around inclusive opportunities with volunteering, a work trial, or even a few hours of paid work per week have been explored. Watch this space!
